Talk about location! This little gem, located just at the start of Via Tornabuoni closest to the River Arno, has rocketed to the top of most popular small JDB properties in Italy. Situated in a 13th century building, the palace was privately owned until the end of the 18th century. Later, it was transformed into a guesthouse and quickly became a favorite of the English aristocrats and literati who loved the atmosphere of Florence.
Now, after a careful restoration, the Via Tornabuoni palace offers guests a rooftop terrace with spectacular panoramic view of Florence, where breakfast can be served inside or outside depending on the weather. Rooms, many of them spacious, have a contemporary Italian décor and include suite and apartments with kitchen facilities. Two of the apartments offer views of the banks of the Arno and the church of Santo Spirito from the living room, while the third faces the courtyard so is very quiet.
The icing on the cake here is the wonderful welcome and ambiance extended to JDB clients, who are majority of guests in the hotel. The breakfast buffet is excellent with home-made cakes, egg dishes, as well as the traditional breads, yogurts, etc. There is a bar for aperitifs or coffee as most guests head straight for that panoramic rooftop terrace after a day of sightseeing in Florence.
Management is outstanding and is always looking for ways to provide more service to guests with only (at present) 22 accommodations. Stay tuned to JDB for the latest news as additional very unique accommodations are created!
