Bushmills Inn
Ireland: Northern Ireland: County Antrim: Bushmills
Rescued from near dereliction in 1988 by the previous owner, this faithfully restored coaching inn and adjoining mill house has become one of Ireland's 'must visit' hotels. The original coach house and stable are thought to date back to 1608, the same year the Bushmills distillery (first distillery in the world) was granted the first license to distil whiskey. It was in the 1820’s, however, when the main hotel was built as part of a major redevelopment of the town of Bushmills. May 2009 saw the opening of 19 new spacious deluxe bedrooms and suites which are luxurious, elegant and designed with your comfort in mind. All feature sitting areas, walk-in wardrobes, and large elegant bathrooms with separate showers. There are two family rooms, adored by children, which feature a loft with two full sized beds accessible by ladder. Because of the ladder, these rooms are designed for older children. After a day of walking the Giant’s Causeway, relax in the bar, still lit by gas light, and try a glass of Bushmills malt from the hotel’s private cask or just relax in a rocking chair in front of the gentle glow of a turf fire in the smoke aged “old kitchen”. The award winning restaurant takes New Irish cuisine and designs its menu around the finest North Antrim produce, seafood and beef. The location is ideal to visit the Giant’s Causeway, Royal Portrush Golf Club and Dunluce Castle. The hotel operates a strict “Non Smoking” policy.
