For some time, this property has accommodated JDB clients when the sister property was fully booked as both hotels are situated just a short walk from each other in the historical center of Radda-in-Chianti, a charming town surrounded by the Chianti vineyards. An ancient palace that has been beautifully restored, this four-star property features some original frescoes on the walls, even a meeting room in the ancient cellar of the palace. Floors are red brick tiles called “cotto” in Italian, bathrooms are done in marble with shower and hydro massage tub. Among the accommodations are a junior suite and a suite. Triple rooms are available as are connecting rooms and non-smoking rooms. Children are welcome.
The hotel has a café with outside space in the town’s square as well as a garden where guests can relax and enjoy a drink. Services available are 24-hour reception desk, internet, elevator, and reading room. Radda is a terrific base for visiting not only the vineyards and castles of the Chianti countryside but also the towns of Greve, Spaltenna, Castellina-in-Chianti, and San Gimignano. The owners have given special attention to this property as they have at Palazzo Leopoldo, a JDB favorite. Spa/fitness center and indoor pool at Palazzo Leopoldo can be used by guests of Palazzo San Niccolo. The outdoor pool (and restaurant) at Ultimo Molino just outside of Radda and owned by the same family can also be enjoyed by guests staying at the family’s hotels in the town center.
