Located in the historic and quaint downtown area of Bologna, Il Convento dei Fiori di Seta (The Silk Flower Nunnery) is the perfect location for this charming boutique hotel. It has undergone meticulous and extensive restauration to preserve its original structure. The little church and convent built in the 15th century and enlarged through the 17th century take its name from the Jesuit cloister nuns who inhabited it. Historical records report that in its garden the nuns grew silk worms to spin silk and create flower decorations and it is on the basis of this charming anecdote that Il Convento dei Fiori di Seta takes its name.
The hotel has 10 rooms, four on the ground floor fashioned out of the apse of the church, with its original high windows and brick and stone walls and six rooms on the upper floor.
The lobby and reception area are located at the church entrance with its original marble floor and vaulted ceiling and columns. Breakfast is served in the altar area overlooking the church main fresco featuring the Crucifix and the wine bar is situated in the sacristy.
All rooms combine contemporary elegant furnishings with modern art and all have stylish mosaic bathrooms showing special care to details. A small and intimate spa has been created in the lower floor with Jacuzzi, steam bath and Scottish shower. A small elegant detail: each room has a key attached to a silk flower of a different color.
