King Sitric Restaurant and Townhouse
Ireland: Central Ireland: County Dublin: Howth
Set in the picturesque fishing village of Howth, just northeast of Dublin, is the King Sitric Restaurant and Townhouse. The hotel was named after the Norse King of Dublin in the 11th century. What was at one time the old harbor master's home, this hotel is one that could be called a restaurant with rooms. Aiden and Joan McManus, the owners, have earned an international reputation for their Fish Restaurant. Fresh fish, oysters, mussels, and lobster are their specialties. In 1999, the hotel was extensively rebuilt, relocating the restaurant to the first floor with panoramic sea-views and the addition of eight bedrooms. All bedrooms, each named after a lighthouse, have stunning views of Balscadden Bay. The location is ideal as you are just 25 minutes by the light rail, DART, to the center of Dublin and 25 minutes by car to Dublin airport. Additionally, it is the perfect place for golfers as Portmarnock, and Baltray County Louth, both excellent links courses, are close by. If you arrive in May or June a visit to Howth Castle should not be missed. The rhododendrons will be spectacular!
