Situated roughly 350 meters above Lake Garda and the town of Gargnano which is home to Villa Feltrinelli (as well as the Michelin-starred restaurant La Tortuga), this beautifully appointed resort has commanding views from every vantage point. Designed to be in harmony with the nature around it, it has the feeling of a much smaller resort than it is.

Built horizontally into the hillside to give maximum views, all materials used are natural, mostly wood, stone and marble. The well-appointed rooms feature silky olive wood floors and walls, stone bathrooms, and a balcony or terrace surrounded by vegetation.

The basic room is a junior suite (500 square feet), so all but eight accommodations fall into this category. All rooms are sold on a half board basis. There are four family suites with two bedrooms and two bathrooms for a total of 730 square feet. These suites are suitable only for families with children because the 2nd bedroom is small but has its own bathroom. Additionally, there are four Exclusive Suites with 830 square feet, the largest accommodation, each of which has a private jacuzzi. Exclusive suites are corner rooms with second sitting area and huge bathroom with separate shower and whirlpool tub with sea-view.

The 30,000 square foot spa is the centerpiece of the resort with half the guest rooms on one side of the spa, and the others on the other side of the spa. There is a large indoor outdoor pool in the spa area that is heated and open year round. Adjacent to the lounge bar, there is a large infinity pool with excellent views of Lake Garda.

There is a medical doctor in the spa who can set up programs for guests depending on their goals. The saltwater pool contained within its own room is available for a fee. Among the 21 treatment rooms are spa suites (larger treatment rooms for couples). The well-equipped fitness center overlooks the infinity pool. There are group classes which vary from day to day and are included in the daily room rate. Personal training is also available.

There are two restaurants, one which serves breakfast and dinner - La Grande Limonaia and is covered by glass at the top of the hotel. Lunch is served more informally near the pool area. There is a buffet service at both breakfast and dinner, but staff is plentiful (and very gracious) and guests have the option of ordering from the a la carte menu. The wine list of mostly Italian wines is impressive. And portions are perfect so one does not feel uncomfortably stuffed.

The hotel is surrounded by 11 hectares of natural park featuring a jogging trail. Boat trips on Lake Garda are easily organized as are trips to Verona for the opera.
