Marlfield House
Ireland: Southern Ireland: County Wexford: Gorey

Just 75 km south of Dublin you will find Marlfield House. Set on 36 acres of fine gardens and woodland it is a beautifully restored Regency period home, renowned for its lavish and warm hospitality since the Earls of Courtown welcomed friends and guests in the 1830's. The Bowe family opened its doors to guests over 30 years ago and it has continued as a highly acclaimed country house and restaurant ever since. All rooms are elegantly decorated and provide all of the luxuries of modern day living including CD players, DVD's, Molton Brown toiletries, Frette linen and oversized robes. There are 13 bedrooms, six State Rooms and a Master Suite. The State Rooms offer the ultimate in luxury. All are oversized with a separate seating area featuring a period marble fireplace and marble bathrooms. All have views of the lush gardens or the lake and wildlife reserve. The extensive gardens include a croquet lawn, tennis court, woodland walks, a lake and gardens of rose, vegetable and herbs which provide much of the produce for the kitchen. Marlfield's conservatory restaurant with frescoed walls is highly acclaimed as one of Ireland's most charming dining rooms serving classical food using home grown and local produce. It is the perfect location from which to tour the beautiful medieval city of Kilkenny and its environs; County Wicklow "The Garden of Ireland", or the monastic settlement at Glendalough. It is surrounded by many well known golf courses including Druids Glen, (Irish Open), and The European. Marlfield has gained many awards including being listed in Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report "Best 25 Hotels in the World".
