Looking for a fabulous place to stay outside of Rome’s city center? This beautifully restored 16th century villa just south of Rome, one of the finest historical hotels in Lazio, could be the perfect choice. Located in the upscale suburbs of Rome, just 10 kilometers south of the ring road, Villa Grazioli sits in a park atop one of the Alban hills. From the main villa, guests have a panoramic view of Rome and - on very clear days - the Mediterranean Sea.
The public rooms, boasting Murano chandeliers and working fireplaces, are works of art, frescoed during the 17th century by such luminaries as Pannini, and invite you to spend some time marveling at their brilliant colors and design.
Rooms are situated in three buildings, with 13 in the main villa, 20 in the Lemonaia and 25 in the Paggeria, the three of which are interconnected by an underground passageway. All accommodations are similar in style with traditional decor and design details, and there are connecting rooms for families.
With dining outside from June to September, the restaurant showcases traditional Roman cuisine with some surprisingly light touches. In the evening, a pianist plays during dinner two or three times per week during high season.
A tour of a Frascati winery is easily arranged and there is a Metro that goes into Rome (takes about 25 minutes), and for those who really want to relax, a swimming pool awaits in the garden during warm weather. More than one night here is recommended!
NOTE: Complimentary shuttle service to the Frascati rail station is available daily except Mondays, on a request basis between 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Space is available on a first come first served basis. The train reaches the center of Rome in approximately 30 minutes.
