Opened in 1872, this is a very deluxe “grande dame” property that has made many improvements recently to include a wellness center and spa, renovation of many accommodations as well as the addition of a very capable and hands-on general manager. The location overlooking the Mediterranean Sea is fantastic - between Monte Carlo and Portofino - with acres of lush gardens surrounding the hotel (this is the flower capital of Italy, after all!).

In addition to the Royal Wellness Center with high end facial treatments featuring Carita and Decleor products, fitness room, hair stylist, hydromassage pool with fountains, and steam room, other recreational facilities include beach with beach cabanas, outdoor heated seawater swimming pool, bicycling, tennis, mini-golf, even horseback riding nearby.

Dining options include Fiori di Murano Restaurant with dazzling view of the sea, the lobby Bar delle Rose, Corallina Restaurant for lunch by the pool (April to September) and snack bar. Gourmet Restaurant Il Giardino offers candlelit outdoor a la carte dinners during summer months. And for after dinner entertainment? The Casino is just next door!

The hotel has a large ratio of individually decorated suites among its accommodations. JDB clients are booked only in renovated rooms and suites. Many rooms have terraces or balconies. Connecting rooms and non-smoking rooms are available. Another nice feature is the expansive salons on the ground floor where guests can relax, enjoy a cup of tea or read a book.
