Originally built in 1853 as a Coast Guard fortress, Stella Maris became a convent in 1914 and as such is now a member of Historic Hotels of Europe. The detailed restoration of this imposing 19th century oceanfront structure was completed in 2002. Antiques are interspersed with comfortable leather furniture to create a "homey" sense for guests.
